Lonza at the exhibition in-cosmetics Latin America, which will be held on September 19-20 in Sao Paulo, Brazil, will present his new bioactive functional ingredient ScreenLight™ Block that helps protect skin from the visible effects of blue light, UV radiation and pollution.
“ScreenLight™ Block provides a powerful protective shield against the visible effects of skin aging from the blue light and other types of radiation, – said Vanessa Arruda, Professor, development Manager of the global market for Lonza. – Consumers who actively use mobile phones and computers, can apply cream that not only softens the visible effects of blue light coming from the screens of their gadgets, but also help to protect the skin from UV exposure and environmental pollution”.
According to the manufacturer, the new ingredient helps protect the skin from the visible effects of the environment in several ways. These include:
• reduces the appearance of dark spots, bringing skin tone looks more even (proven in laboratory tests);
• reduces the appearance of wrinkles (based on the subjective assessment of consumers);
• prevents the increase of melanin production from exposure to visible light.
Third party testing has shown that ScreenLight ™ Block operates differently in different stress conditions. Under visible light and under artificial lighting bioactive compounds reduce the synthesis of melanin in the skin. Under the UV ingredient protects collagen and improves skin elasticity.
Lonza produces block ScreenLight ™ using advanced technology – supercritical extraction with carbon dioxide, which is a more environmentally friendly process than traditional methods of ekstruzii. Plant extract of Physalis alkekengi, more commonly known as Chinese lantern or physalis alkekengi, is characterized in that its composition is rich in phytosterols. Beta-carotene obtained by fermentation with the fungus Blakeslea trispora.
