Global Biolife is a subsidiary of Singapore eDevelopment Ltd (SeD), which collaborates with the American Chemia Corporation to develop a set of fragrances, able to withstand the global biological threats, not only have a pleasant smell.
A group of scientists has developed a functional formula is fragrance aimed at dealing with emerging biological threats, such as tuberculosis, which will be used for the production of personal care products, including shampoos and Soaps.
Daryl Thompson, Director of scientific initiatives in Global Biolife noted that the scientific community is beginning to realize that strategic use of antibiotics have passed, and that causing bacteria, for example tuberculosis, have become resistant to their application: “We spent time using traditional antibiotics to combat the virus bacteria, so it is crucial that opened a new method.” According to Thompson, the new product 3F was effective to stop or suppress pathogens, such as rhinoviruses, influenza virus, E. coli, Staphylococcus aureus, methicillinresistant Staphylococcus aureus and tuberculosis.
Process research and development proceeded for five years, and included laboratory and field investigations, including expeditions to the deep jungle to study the new flora. Samples of aromatic substances were returned to the laboratory for testing interaction with different strains of dangerous bacteria, which allowed the researchers to determine what the collected materials have antibacterial properties.
The team then Thompson began to disassemble the flavors to show that they contain many complex chemicals “We worked backwards, using computational mechanisms to determine which compounds are the aroma has antibacterial properties. Soon we managed to create a library of isolates that have antimicrobial properties that could be used to create complex flavors. These new complex flavors make 3F effective as antibacterial agents”, – said the head of research.
According to Thompson, the technology 3F can be reformulated to obtain a wide range of antibacterial fragrance: “we are currently reorganizing them to mimic the smells we have encountered in our time in the jungle. The first antibacterial fragrance was actually modeled after studying the incredibly rare varieties of orchids – “Ghost Orchid”, found only in Florida and Cuba. This plant has an incredible smell”.
At the moment, the firm works with perfume agencies to provide the ability to use the aroma of 3F for the global production and distribution. New cosmetic products, for the production of which will apply new technology that will appear in the course of the year.
